1. When I’m making inserts for my cards, I sometimes like one of the verses, but it’s not exactly what I was looking for – is there any way I can change it without having to type it all in myself?
Yes of course you can. When you choose your verse and click to select it, it will appear in the box to the left of the screen. In here you can edit the text to suit your requirements – adding your own personal touches and finishing off the verse to suit your occasion.
My printer is printing really slow. Is there anything I can do to speed it up?
If you find your printer is running slowly then the best option is to update your printer drivers. This shouldn’t take a minute and should give your printer a new lease of life! The easiest way to do this is to search in google for ‘printer drivers’ with the make and model of your printer and this will take you to the manufacturers website where you can click to download the latest versions of the drivers.
Do Crafter’s Companion CD ROMs work with vista?
Yes, all of our CDs are fully compatible with Vista.
Are Crafter’s Companion CD ROMs MAC compatible.
Unfortunately our operating system is not compatible with Apple Macintosh computers. However, you can still access the data files from the CD ROM in .jpeg format and use these with your own graphics package.
I cannot get the projects to work. How can I fix this?
If you find that the projects won’t load on your computer I would suggest installing the latest version of Adobe Reader, which is free to download online. If you already have the current version, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the program.
How do I access the data files on the CD?
Simply follow these instructions:
  1. Click on ‘My Computer’
  2. You should see the CC logo and the label ‘disk drive’
  3. Right click and choose explore
  4. Click on data
  5. The folder should open with access to all of the files on the CD ROM
I put my disk into the CD drive and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
It’s possible that your automatic run command on your CD drive is disabled. To make the CD run, go to ‘My Computer’ and double click on the CD ROM disk drive which will force the CD to load.
Do you need a graphics program to run Crafter’s Companion CD ROMs?
No not at all, the CD ROM’s have a program built in to make the very easy to use.
My printer doesn’t print the whole image, a small portion is cut off at the bottom. How can I stop this?
You need to change the printer settings to decrease the size of the border. Simply click onto the ‘Resize/Position’ button to the left of the screen and this will bring up a set of blue borders around the design. There will be 4 boxes in the center of the screen, click on the top box 3 times and this will move the whole image up 3mm. Alternatively, drag the bottom border up by 2 millimetres and this should fix the problem. If you’re still not sure how to do this, click onto the help button to access the help-files and select the ‘Resize/Position’ button option for a full tutorial.
There are envelopes on the CD’s, how do I make these?
You can use your Enveloper, Ultimate or Envelobox Creator to fold these together by following the instruction booklet included with the tool. Alternatively, for the 5” square and A6 envelopes, simply cut 9cm from the bottom of your printed sheet, and then fold along the edge of the printed line to form an envelope.
How can I print my image in Black & White?
Your printer will have a ‘Monotone’ or ‘Black & White’ option in the printer dialogue box (the grey box you see after clicking print) Simply choose this option in your printer settings and you will get a black and white image. Alternatively, you can use the colouriser feature in the design sets and set the middle slider to 0 for a black and white image.
How do I use specialist printable papers with my CDs?
You simply load them into the printer tray as you would with normal copier paper  and press print. At this point, the printer dialogue box will open, and here you select the type of paper you are printing onto such as ‘Transparency’ of ‘Photo Paper’. Make sure that when printing onto printable acetate that you print onto the rough side of the page. If your type of paper is not listed (such as pearlescent, or vellum) try experimenting with different settings to see which one gives the best finish. The different finishes simply alter the amount of ink which is released onto the page as you print.

I saw on a demonstration that you could print only the letters that you needed from the alphabets. How do I do this?
Choose the alphabets section of the CD, choose a design and a colourway option. From here you will come to the page display, which should display a complete alphabet. On the left hand side of the page there is an edit box. Simply delete the complete alphabet from the box and type out the letters you wish to print. Note: this is explained in detail in the help files if you select the help button whilst in the alphabets section it will take you straight there.
When I choose something to print and proceeding to pressing print, the paper shot through the printer without being printed onto. What did I do wrong?
Try updating your printer drivers as this is usually the cause of this problem.
I have printed onto some of your printing papers and the colours have run. How can I stop this?
You need to change the print settings on your printer to let it know that it is printing onto a different surface. Try choosing something along the lines of ‘Photo Paper’ or if you find that the ink is still not drying effectively, select a ‘Transparency’ setting.
Can I use the colouriser on the toppers and alphabets on the CD’s?
You can only use the colouriser feature in the design sets section on the CD ROM. But you can import the individual elements from each section into your own graphics package and manipulate the colours and sizes accordingly. See the separate FAQ on opening the data files for details of how to access the individual images.
