Happy Afternoon Tea Week, everyone! If you needed an excuse to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake, then this is it. While we know it’s an essential to enjoy a cuppa whilst crafting, it’s especially nice to share a pot with your friends or loved ones. Inspired by this week (August 12th – 18th) of all things tea, scones, cake and jam, we’ve put together this inspiration post to help you get into the swing of things.
Add a touch of tea time fun into your cardmaking projects with the Floral Tea Cups Layering Stamp and Die, or something from the Sara Signature Vintage Tea Party line, taking inspiration from the two cards that you can see above. We absolutely love the teetering stack of tea cups, as you can personalise the colours to make them your own!
If stamping is your thing, we’ve got plenty of tea and cake-themed stamps here at Crafter’s Companion! No stamp stash is complete without at least one foodie stamp, so we’ve got all kinds of images to choose from, like Strawberry Cupcakes, Macaroons and Teatime Cake. These can be used together to create your own scene or individually like in the cards you see above, to make stunning centrepieces.
If you’re a sewist, you’ll absolutely love putting our fabrics to good use. Give your kitchen and tea time decor a countryside twist with our Threaders Country Yard fabric! How cute is the tea cosy in the image above? If you look closely, you’ll notice the gorgeous tea cup stitching along the top of the blue fabric.
If you’re like us, you’ll be a firm believer that no afternoon tea is complete without a generous slice of cake, so we’re in love with the Gemini Create-a-Card Dimensionals Cake Dies! You could create the most beautiful afternoon tea invitations that feature a pop out tiered cake, plus all the accessories and toppings you would need. They could also work for weddings!
We all know how much you love a pop of bright colour here and there, and that’s something that you should definitely incorporate into your afternoon tea crafting! Just take a look at these Alice in Wonderland-style tea cups that have splashes of bright red details, drawing any eyes in to take a look. You definitely don’t need an excuse to add a dash of colour here and there.
Make sure you protect your surfaces from hot mugs and tea cups with some homemade coasters. We’ve got absolutely tons of fabric and embellishments that you can use, but we particularly love using multi media dies to get precise patterns and patchwork effects. Make sure you take a look at our Decorative Panel Dies, as used in the photo on the left, or the English Paper Piecing Dies, as used in the right photo.
We hope that you all make the most of Afternoon Tea Week and indulge yourself a little (in either cake, crafting or both)! We’re certain to be celebrating, so make sure you share any of your tea or cake-related projects with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #crafterscompanion.
