4 Easy Father's Day Craft Ideas

Father’s Day is the perfect time to show the father figures in our lives how much we appreciate them and everything they’ve done for us. It’s also the ideal time to get crafty to give their presents a bit of a personal touch.

This Father’s Day, say exactly what you want to with a handmade gift or card using these lovely Father’s Day craft ideas.

1. Make him a Father’s Day Card

There’s no better way to tell dad you love him than with a beautiful handmade card. Grab your stamps, dies, and card kits to create the perfect addition to his mantlepiece!

Using stamps to create cards is easy and fun! Use stamps to create bold images and sweet sentiments onto blank cards or on the inside of a ready-made card.

Every dad loves a good pun and there’s no better way to play with words than with the Sloth Mode On stamp set. Featuring a mix of fun image stamps and playful sentiments, this is the perfect set to use for dads who work hard and relax harder.
If your dad likes to read, or just generally doesn’t take life too seriously, there’s a stamp to help you create the perfect card. Featuring the famous phrase by Oscar Wilde, make dad a card to help him feel a little lighthearted using the Life is too Important stamp from the Crafter's Companion Chalkboard Sentiments Collection.

One of the best things about stamping is the number of wonderful colours and effects you can play with! There are so many different types of ink pads for you to choose from, from shimmering metallic and rich opaque pigment ink pads to innovative alcohol and waterproof pads.

If you’re colouring your stamp design, make sure you pair your colouring medium with suitable ink. Finesse Alcohol Proof Ink Pads and Waterproof Ink Pads make it so easy to add colour to your stamped designs.

For example, if you favour alcohol markers, use Finesse Alcohol Proof ink pads to stamp your image and colour using the Spectrum Noir Classique or Illustrator markers - the alcohol-proof ink keeps the outline crisp and clear. Alternatively, a Finesse Waterproof inkpad combined with Aqua Markers or watercolour paints will give you a nice clean outline and won’t bleed even when you paint over it. Here’s a guide to Spectrum Noir Ink Pads to help guide your choice.

Die-cutting is a fun and versatile craft that can add a lot of detail and intricacy to your cards and other crafts. There are plenty of dies to choose from that will cut out all kinds of different expressions, sentiments, and images.
Help him celebrate with the Hip Hip Hooray die set and decorate the card using the Dad, Father, and Father’s Day dies or customise a message with Mini Alphabet Dies. Check out our Beginner's Guide to Die Cutting for everything you need to know about this craft technique.

Card Making Kits

If you’re new to cardmaking or want a project with all the supplies or elements included in one set, a cardmaking kit is a fun and easy way to create a handmade card from scratch!

With sets such as the Violet Studio Large Cardmaking Compendium or one the themed Crafter's Companion Craft Kits you can have fun creating a lovely card that you can be proud of. Pair with other ready-made embellishments and create something truly unique!

2. Put together a photo album

Remember the good times by arranging a photo album just for Dad. Our range of Mini Memories dies lets you make and build your very own memory book from scratch so you can completely customise something interactive and really special for your dad. Fill with photos, notes, ticket stubs and all kinds of other souvenirs to look back on together.

3. Customise a cup, pint or wine glass

If your dad is fond of a cold beer after work, likes to use the same glass for water, or loves nothing more than sitting down with a cup of tea, why not give him a personalised cup or glass?

The Spectrum Noir Acrylic Paint Markers are the perfect way to add designs and custom elements to a mug or glass to turn it from something plain into a personalised piece of drinkware. Simply use your markers to add design elements to the outer surface of the cup and allow it to dry. Spectrum Noir Acrylic Paint Markers are non-toxic and feature a 3mm bullet tip, for effortlessly smooth strokes, an ink level indicator and a precision valve mechanism for a rich consistent flow, with no clogging.

4. Create a personalised puzzle

Puzzles are a great way to spend some quiet time so if your dad is a fan of doing puzzles, why not make him his very own? Turn any photograph, drawing, or image into a puzzle using the Gemini Abstract Jigsaw Die. This clever die creates a 10x8” piece of medium into a jigsaw puzzle with ease and is perfectly paired with all sorts of different materials, from card to leather and beyond so you can turn anything into a fun brain teaser for dad in no time.
